Why It Matters

A perimeter barrier knocks down ant, spider, and centipede populations before they make their way inside.

Tools

  • Garden sprayer (for liquid formulations)
  • Broadcast spreader (for granular formulations)

Materials

  • Perimeter insecticide (granular or liquid formulation)

How to Do It

  1. Choose a dry day with no rain forecast for at least 24 hours so the product has time to set.
  2. Mix or prepare the insecticide according to label directions, or fill your sprayer with the ready-to-use liquid.
  3. Apply a 2-3 ft band along the entire foundation perimeter, keeping the spray low and close to the base of the wall.
  4. Treat all entry points: door thresholds, window frames, and vent openings.
  5. Disperse granular product evenly by hand or with a broadcast spreader over the same band if using a granular formulation.
