Privacy Policy

Your account

Stu requires an account, tied to your email address. There's no password. You sign in with a short code emailed to you each time you need to. Signup collects only your email address; no other personal information is required.

Your home data

Your home profile, maintenance tasks, and completion history are created and stored locally on your iPhone, the same as before. Because Stu requires an account, that data is also backed up to Quickhatch's servers, so a lost or replaced phone can be restored from your last backup. Backup is one-way: your device pushes changes up, and a new device pulls the latest backup down. This is not real-time sync across multiple devices at once.

Account deletion

Settings offers two distinct, separate actions:

Delete All Data clears your home profile, tasks, and history from this device only.

Delete Account deletes your account. It signs you out and blocks access to your data immediately. For 30 days afterward, your account can be recovered by emailing support@stu.tools. This is a safety net, not a way to quietly change your mind. After 30 days, your account and its backed-up data are permanently and irreversibly deleted.

App analytics

Stu uses PostHog to collect basic, anonymized usage information to help improve the product. This includes general details such as your home's state, climate zone, construction type, and in-app navigation patterns. No personal identifiers, home profile content, or task details are included in these reports.

Data export

You can export your home data directly from the app at any time. Your data is stored in a standard format and is never locked in. If you delete the app, your data is removed from your device.

Third-party services

Stu and this website use the following third-party services:

• PostHog: in-app usage analytics (anonymized). Collects home state, climate zone, construction type, and in-app navigation patterns to help improve the product.
• RevenueCat: subscription management. Receives purchase receipt data and device identifiers to verify and manage your subscription status. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
• Supabase: backend infrastructure for accounts and cloud backup. Stores your email address and a backup copy of your home data (profile, tasks, history), scoped to your account. See Supabase's privacy policy.
• Loops.so: email delivery. Sends your account sign-in codes, occasional product updates if you opt in, and processes newsletter signups from this website. See Loops' privacy policy.
• Google Analytics & Google Tag Manager: website traffic analytics. Collects anonymous page view data and general location.
• Google Search Console: website search performance monitoring. No user data is collected.
• Google Apps Script: processes partner application submissions from this website.

Each provider's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policies.

Marketing email

When you create an account, you can opt in to occasional product updates and tips by email. This is separate from the sign-in code emails required to use the app. It's checked by default at signup (uncheck it if you'd rather not), and you can turn it on or off at any time from Settings, or unsubscribe directly from any marketing email.

This website

This website (stu.tools) uses Google's analytics suite, including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console, to understand how visitors find and use the page. This collects anonymous usage data such as page views and general location. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Children

Stu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age.

Changes to this policy

If the privacy practices of Stu change, this page will be updated. Material changes that affect what data is collected will be communicated through an app update.
