Privacy Policy

Your account

Stu requires an account, tied to your email address. There's no password. You sign in with a short code emailed to you each time you need to. At signup, Stu collects your email address, your choice about marketing email, and, if you answer it, how you heard about Stu. No other personal information is required.

Your home data

Your home profile, maintenance tasks, and completion history are created and stored on your iPhone. Because Stu requires an account, that data is also backed up to Quickhatch's servers, so a lost or replaced phone can be restored from your last backup. Backup is one-way: your device pushes changes up, and a new device pulls the latest backup down. This is not real-time sync across multiple devices at once.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are purchased and billed through Apple. Quickhatch never sees your payment details. RevenueCat manages subscriptions on Quickhatch's behalf and forwards subscription events (such as a purchase, renewal, or cancellation) to Stu's backend, which stores your subscription status and plan with your account.

App analytics

Stu uses PostHog to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Analytics events are tied to your account ID, a random identifier, not to your email address. PostHog collects:

• App opens, app version, and device model
• Screens viewed
• Actions taken in the app, such as working with tasks, components, and paint colors, exporting data, and changing settings
• Onboarding steps
• How you heard about Stu
• General home details: your home's state, climate zone, and construction type
• Approximate location (such as city and region), which PostHog estimates from your IP address

Reminders

Weekly reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. No task details are sent to a push notification service.

Account deletion

Settings offers two distinct, separate actions:

Delete All Data clears your home profile, tasks, and history from this device only.

Delete Account deletes your account. It signs you out and blocks access to your data immediately. For 30 days afterward, your account can be recovered by emailing support@stu.tools. This is a safety net, not a way to quietly change your mind. After 30 days, your account and its backed-up data are permanently and irreversibly deleted.

Analytics events already sent to PostHog are kept after your account is deleted. They remain tied to your former account ID, which no longer links to your email address or any other account information.

Data export

You can export your home data from the app as a CSV at any time. If you delete the app, your data is removed from your device.

Third-party services

Stu and this website use the following third-party services:

• PostHog: in-app usage analytics. Receives the analytics described above, tied to your account ID, and estimates approximate location from your IP address. See PostHog's privacy policy.
• RevenueCat: subscription management. Receives purchase receipt data and device identifiers to verify and manage your subscription, and forwards subscription events to Stu's backend. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
• Supabase: backend infrastructure for accounts and backup. Stores your email address, your marketing email preference, how you heard about Stu, your subscription status and plan, and a backup copy of your home data (profile, tasks, history), scoped to your account. See Supabase's privacy policy.
• Loops.so: email delivery. Sends your account sign-in codes and, if you opt in, product updates and tips. For users who opt in, Loops also receives your account ID, subscription status and plan, and how you heard about Stu. It also processes newsletter signups from this website. See Loops' privacy policy.
• Google Analytics & Google Tag Manager: website traffic analytics. Collects page view data and general location.
• Google Search Console: website search performance monitoring. No user data is collected.
• Google Apps Script: processes partner application submissions from this website.

Each provider's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policies.

Marketing email

When you create an account, you can opt in to occasional product updates and tips by email. This is separate from the sign-in code emails required to use the app. It's checked by default at signup (uncheck it if you'd rather not), and you can turn it on or off at any time from Settings, or unsubscribe directly from any marketing email. If you opt in, Loops receives the details listed above.

This website

This website (stu.tools) uses Google's analytics suite, including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console, to understand how visitors find and use the site. This collects usage data such as page views and general location. If you sign up for the newsletter, the email address you enter is sent to Loops. Partner Program applications are processed with Google Apps Script.

Children

Stu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age.

Changes to this policy

If the privacy practices of Stu change, this page will be updated. Material changes that affect what data is collected will be communicated through an app update.
