Why It Matters

Lint that gets past the screen accumulates inside the housing, restricting airflow and creating a fire hazard.

Tools

  • Vacuum with narrow attachment
  • Flexible dryer-vent brush

How to Do It

  1. Pull the lint screen straight out of its slot.
  2. Attach a narrow vacuum attachment and insert it into the housing, reaching as deep as possible to pull out accumulated lint.
  3. If lint remains beyond the vacuum's reach, run a flexible dryer-vent brush into the housing to loosen and dislodge it.
  4. Vacuum again to clear any lint the brush freed.
  5. Slide the lint screen back into place.
