Doors

Exterior doors seal the home against weather, pests, and air loss. Keeping frames caulked and weatherstripping intact protects walls from water damage and keeps conditioned air inside.

Doors Tasks

  • Re-caulk exterior door frames

Each fall, run a continuous bead of exterior caulk where door trim meets siding, after removing the old caulk and cleaning the surface.

    Once a year, in fall
  • Replace exterior door weatherstripping

Each fall, pry off worn weatherstripping along the jambs and threshold, clean the surfaces, and install new V-strip or compression seal.

    Once a year, in fall
