Garage Door
The garage door seals the opening against weather, pests, and intruders while giving vehicles and people safe passage in and out. Keeping it maintained protects the moving parts, the seal at the floor, and the auto-reverse system that prevents crush injuries.
Garage Door Tasks
- Lubricate and service garage door
Once a year, spray lithium or silicone lubricant on the rollers, hinges, springs, and drive mechanism, but not on the track.
- Replace garage door bottom seal
Every 3 years, slide out the old bottom seal, cut a new one to length, and slide it into the door's channel.
- Test garage door auto-reverse safety
Twice a year, place a 2x4 flat under the closing door and wave through the photo-eye beam to confirm the door reverses on both tests.
