GFCI Outlets

GFCI outlets cut power instantly when they detect a current leak, protecting against shock near water. They can fail without warning, so periodic testing and timely replacement keep that protection intact.

GFCI Outlets Tasks

  • Replace GFCI outlet devices

Every 10 years, turn off the breaker, verify power is off, and replace each GFCI outlet, wiring LINE to the source side and LOAD to downstream outlets.

    Every 10 years
  • Test GFCI outlets

Press TEST on each GFCI outlet every six months to confirm it cuts power, then press RESET to restore it.

    Twice a year
