Why It Matters

Counter-clockwise rotation pushes cool air down, which lets you raise the AC setpoint without feeling warmer.

How to Do It

  1. Stand below the fan and watch the blades spin. They should move counter-clockwise (left at the top, right at the bottom) when viewed from below.
  2. If the blades spin clockwise, turn the fan off and wait for the blades to stop completely.
  3. Locate the direction switch on the motor housing (usually a small slide switch on the side) or open your remote or app.
  4. Flip the switch or select the reverse direction setting, then turn the fan back on to confirm counter-clockwise rotation.
