Clean dishwasher filter
Short answer
Every three months, twist out the filter from the bottom of the dishwasher tub, rinse it under running water, and scrub gently if needed.
Why It Matters
A clogged filter recirculates food particles onto dishes, slows drainage, and stresses the pump.
Tools
- Soft brush or old toothbrush
How to Do It
- Pull out the bottom rack to access the filter assembly on the floor of the tub.
- Twist the cylindrical filter counterclockwise and lift it straight out.
- Rinse the filter under running water to flush loose debris.
- Scrub gently with a soft brush if food particles remain stuck to the mesh.
- Reinsert the filter, twist clockwise to lock it in place, and slide the rack back in.
- If your dishwasher has no removable filter, it has a self-cleaning grinder and this task does not apply.
